Hon. Onofiok Luke |
An avid reader and lover of knowledge, Barr
Luke is an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School, Executive
Education Programme. His commitment to quality leadership dates back to his
days as President of the Students Union Government of the University of Uyo. He
was later in 2008 elected the pioneer Speaker of the Nigeria Youth Parliament,
a capacity in which he had numerous opportunities to give Nigeria excellent
representation at various international fora.
Barrister Onofiok Luke has worked as Personal
Assistant on Protocol Matters to the Akwa Ibom State Governor. He won a
landslide victory at the 2011 polls to represent Nsit Ubium State Constituency
in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. He has chaired the House Committee on
Appropriations and Finance, and Committee on Agriculture and Food Sufficiency.
Driven by his unquenchable passion for youth
development, he founded The Onofiok Luke Legislative Internship Programme
(TOLLIP) in 2013. The programme is designed to train young Nigerians on the
rudiments of law-making in line with international best practises, as well as
raise an army of young entrepreneurs, social volunteers, peace advocates and
conflict managers.
Honourable Barrister Onofiok Akpan Luke is a
2011 Associate of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative (NLI), and a member of the
Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, a socio-cultural organization of distinguished sons of
Ibibio nation. He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
His drive towards youth development and the
determination to seize every opportunity to provide sterling leadership has
seen him earn several prestigious honours and recognitions. Amongst other
honours, he was awarded an Honorary Texan in 2012 by the States of Texas,
United States of America. He was also specially inducted into the Hall of Fame
of the Consolidated Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in 2013.
Barr Luke is married to Uduak and they are
blessed with Etiusungisang, Enoabasi, and Uduakobong.
